Brit Kornel is a full time multi-media artist residing in Montreal (Tiohtià:ke). Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, visual creation became a primary source of expression from a young age. Succeeding 3 generations of artists, her visual creations were supported from a young age.

Since 2016 she began consistently creating digital work, oil paintings and work in various printmaking mediums such as relief printing and intaglio.

Almost 8 years into her career, she works full time as a tattooer, picking up various commissions in her spare time.

Sometimes dabbling in abstract works, she typically focuses her painting practice on figuration with the intent of capturing people’s relationship to their environment.

Her first solo exhibition ‘Eat Me Alive’ (2017) focused on media consumption and body image through grotesque imagery of food and the body, and the way these two topics intersect.

She is currently working on a series of oil paintings exploring capitalism and the church.
